Engine and Performance

The 2027 CX-5 Hybrid will be powered by Mazda’s new SkyActiv-Z engine, which uses a “lean combustion” method. Its performance will be similar to the current 2.5-liter turbo, delivering around 228 hp and 420 Nm. This is about 50 hp and 178 Nm more than the non-turbo version.

The SkyActiv-Z engine will debut in the CX-5 Hybrid and could later appear in other models like the Mazda 3, CX-30, and CX-3. It runs on a lambda combustion process, which aims for the perfect air-fuel mix of 1.0 in the engine.

Regarding other Mazda CX-5 hybrid specifications, the model is expected to deliver similar power to the turbo petrol model, and it should be much more fuel-efficient. The current turbo CX-5 uses about 8.2 liters per 100km on combined driving.

Safety Features

The Mazda CX-5 exterior design takes cues from Japanese architecture, with precise body panel connections inspired by the "Kigumi" method. This results in a longer body—about 4.5 inches more—highlighted by angular rear lights similar to larger Mazda crossovers. Bold "MAZDA" lettering replaces traditional badges for a striking look.
